Application for
Virtual Host Service
Virtual Host Service allows your Web pages, hosted on the DCN
Web Server (www.dcn.davis.ca.us), to be accessed directly using
your DNS domain name.
- Without Virtual Host Service, a URL with your domain name, like
http://mydomain.com/
- is equivalent to
http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/
- and will point to the DCN home page rather than your own.
With Virtual Host Service, the URL with your domain name refers directly
to your Web Pages.
Before proceeding with your application for Virtual Host Service, please

DNS Service is a prerequisite for Virtual Host
Service. If you do not yet have DNS Service from DCN, you should apply for
it before submitting this application.

Base Directory
The "Base Directory" is the directory on the
DCN Web Server where your Web Site is located. The default location
for the Base Directory is the public_html directory for
the LoginID you have entered in the space above. If your base directory
is elsewhere, you should specify it here. (Your Base Directory must
exist and be readable for this application to be accepted.)

Log files
Each week, the Log Files showing accesses to your web
pages and errors encountered while accessing your web pages will be
transferred to your Base Directory. If you wish the log files to be sent
elsewhere, you should specify that location here. (That directory must
exist for this application to be accepted.)
Use my Base Directory as a repository for the Log Files.
I am not interested in the Log Files. Do not send them to me.
