1. We discussed, with Frank Maurer, the Quail Ridge project proposal to help
upgrade the existing web site. The following help was agreed to:
A shell account (6 months?)
Total of 10 MB space
Training in: Email practice (mechanics, issues, etiquette)
General understanding of the Internet and web sites
including issues to do with the current state of
the technology, web site design (accessibility etc.)
A Mailing List available as needed

John Batcheldor offered help (his and his wife Cindy's) to create a Quail Ridge virtual tour on the web site.

Frank Maurer says he will hand out material on DCN trainings at the Farmers Market (when we have our act together that is).

2. We discussed the question of linking a subscriber page of education links to the DCN Education page and decided to suggest to Steve that the link not be made (we were troubled by the potential of future problems that might keep cropping up because of the precedent that would be set). We recommended a spotlight offer.

3. We started to discuss the IPC and its role relative to both the community's needs and the DCN web content. The discussion veered quickly to discussing DCN and its need to be more aggressive in developing cash income.

Suggestions included:

A page on DCN explaining and describing DCN's need for donor support (including how to make donations of all sizes)

Partnering with corporations and businesses - not just agencies and institutions

Having (agreed upon?) articles in the COOP newsletter for PR

Maybe having an imprint on shopping bags at the COOP of other places

Offering Computer Camps (daily without overnights probably) in Spring and Summer breaks using DJUSD elementary school andf other computer labs that get insufficient use. (This could create significant income). Susan has is writing up a model of how her organization has done this (not with computers) and will share this with DCN if we like.

Beefing up the Public Education Committee with energetic people to work with Richard Yamagata (Richard says he really likes that idea!)

4. We adjourned at 7:35pm
