1. 6:30 - Meeting called to order and agenda amended to include item 2c.

2. Business:
a) Committee approved Explorit's request for 3 e-mail only accounts.
(The request will be reviewed at or before the February 2002 IPC meeting)

b) We discussed the inquiry from Simpalife and agreed that
Fairfield is too far out of our area of services to involve in our
project or non-profit programs. Anne will suggest to Simpalife that
the two Davis organizations be encouraged to apply to the IPC.

c) Richard Reid carried a message to the IPC that a consortium of
Economic Development Groups/Departments and area Chambers
of Commerce have an immediate need for an Internet tool to allow
online communication and discussion concerning Tourism issues.
The committee approved the provision of a Web Board for this
purpose and Steve agreed to set up a Board and to work with
Richard Reid who will be the Board Manager.

3. Discussion:
We continued the discussions about the DCN Website revision and
the use of Zope to manage the site. Most of the discussion centered
around developing guidelines for potential managers of the various
areas of the site.

For "example" (suggestions not 'decrees'):

Businesses requesting linkage must give Davis Business License,
and a local contact name and address.

Organizations requesting linkage must provide a local contact name
and address as well as a brief description of the services/benefit to
the community.

Individuals requesting linkage must provide a local contact name
and address and a brief explanation of the purpose of the page for
which linkage is requested.

All linked pages must have contact information on the top page.

All requested links must fit within an existing DCN web page category
(business, arts and entertainment, health, etc. etc.)

Managers will be required to compare the actual Web page with the
description given in the request.

DCN's linkage pages will carry a disclaimer explaining that DCN does
not endorse the content of other's linked pages.

DCN will identify its service as "Community oriented" in order to
make it more straightforward to determine if a request is
inappropriate for the DCN web site.

Issues remaining are (amongst others certainly):
Will the age of the applicant be an issue?
What group will determine 'grey area' requests?
What - given free speech, liability, privacy etc issues - should DCN not allow?

4. 7:50pm Adjournment

NOTE: There were severe problems unlocking and especially with locking
the outer door.
(Anne reported this to the Parks & Rec office
the following morning)
