Richard Lowenberg reported on his meeting with Dawn Lindstrom of the Putah Creek Council and the discussion centered around the need for a quid-quo-pro if an MOU is drawn up. It was suggested that if no appropriate quid-quo-pro can be achieved then perhaps no MOU is needed and the arrangement should be on the basis of an IPC project instead. 7. Discussion - at request of DCN Executive Committee - : We discussed the request from Holmes to consider allowing the Holmes PTA and individual Faculty members to use DCN's Zope Web page templates as a package with sufficient resources to permit individual teachers to have their own sets of pages. The following considerations emerged: General: a) the project should be called a "pilot" project b) Cooperation and communication between DCN and various parties at Holmes will be important. DCN: a) The determinate capacity of the Web Team must be born in mind. b) Server capacity must be considered c) DCN will need to train trainers d) DCN will almost certainly need to be able to provide some other support e) DCN should develop a page explaining the package and the relationship between DCN and the end users. This should be linked to the package homepage. f) Should there be limits to the number of pages per teacher? g) Should the pages be text only - no images? Holmes: a) There must be a liaison person who will be in charge of the package, coordinate or organize training sessions, and maintain the package homepage, b) People trained by DCN will train faculty and PTA members who need it c) Package homepage should have a link to the main PTA site? d) DCN acknowledged on the home page with a link. We went to the computers and studied the test site that Steve McMahon had put up at http://www2.dcn.org/orgs/test/ Some thoughts as a result of this 'study' a) Automatic dating of updated pages would be good b) Make the mechanisms as intuitive as possible and have instructions/titles in words easy for hurried teachers to grasp quickly. We came up with a few alternative wordings which Sarah will communicate to Steve. 8. Adjourned at 7:45 p.m. but continued until 8:30 p.m. -- - Anne Hance -- - Anne Hance
