Meeting was called to order at 7:39pm 2. The agenda was approved with the addition of items 3d. and 6. below 3. a) Ithinktank.org project. The committee confirmed the ithintank project with a Zope Website and Forum and set a 9 month time limit. The project will end October 15 2003. Committee members had a few suggestions for Heidi but were very impressed with the site and the forum. The wording for an acknowledgement as a page footer was drafted as: Thank you to the Davis Community Network for the use of its Internet Resources for this website and forum. b) Yolo County Gay Pride Day project. On a motion by Richard Yamagata seconded by Alan Brattesani the committee approved a Simple Site and Mailman List for the project by consensus. The resources approved with no time limit are to be developed by Steve McMahon and eventually maintained by members of the Gay Pride Day Committee. As with other IPC indefinite resources they will be reviewed annually. c) Anne noted that a request from the Community Alliance with Family Farmers organization can be expected in the near future. d) The request from Steac for a nonprofit Lurker account was approved by consensus on a motion by John Chiles seconded by Alan Brattesani. 4. The committee reviewed the list of 55 Mailman Lists. The question was raised as to what, if anything, should be done when Lists authorized and set up are not being used. The issue was not resolved and will be revisited. 5. A brief discussion of the mission, purposes, functioning and membership of the IPC engendered the following thoughts: The IPC does basic DCN work There is an effective division of labor between the Webteam and the IPC in which the Webteam works on creating useful resources confident that the IPC is creating the pipeline of community groups eager to take advantage of them. The ways in which PTAs are, and could be, helped by using DCN resources such as the Simple Sites and Mailman Lists was discussed. 6. Domains and Virtual Hosting on Velocipede - an issue presented by Steve McMahon. Steve commented that groups registering unique domains with a domain registrar offering DNS could easily be virtually-hosted on Velocipede. This could be a useful community service. The committee pondered the idea with interest. There seems to be no downside to this suggestion which is not seen by Omsoft as a concern. It was suggested that the issue be brought up at a DCN Executive Committee meeting. Adjourned at 7:50pm Next meeting March 5 2003 -- - Anne Hance or
