Creating E-mail SPAM Filters

The DCN mail server adds a tag to the header of e-mail messages that are possible SPAM.

The presence of the text

X-Barracuda-Spam-Flag: YES

in the message header can be used by your e-mail program to reject
suspect messages or to redirect them to a separate mail folder.

Please Note: The tagging mechanism used by DCN is a mechanical one based on identity of transmitting mail servers. As such, it is vulnerable to both false negatives (i.e., failure to tag bona fide SPAM) and false positives (tagging non-SPAM as possible SPAM).

Used cautiously, a possible-SPAM tagging mechanism may help you sort meaningful e-mail from unsolicited commercial e-mail. But, it is no substitute for your own judgment.

This tagging applies only to messages delivered to your INBOX on the DCN server.
Tags will not be added to messages that are forwarded to another destination.

Here are links to examples of how to create spam filters with some of the common e-mail programs.
N.B. These are EXAMPLES ONLY. You should tailor them to your particular application.
